Binary packages for Debian, Ubuntu, and Gentoo Linux are forthcoming; contributions from developers on other Linux distros such as Fedora, Mandriva, and SuSE as welcome as well.
The source code for Quill and Parchment is available via Git.
You can get the code with:
$ git clone git://github.com/afcowie/quill.git quill
$ cd quill
And build it by doing:
$ make test
To run the app (in this case loading the testing document):
$ ./quill tests/ExampleDocument.parchment
To build Quill and Parchment you'll need:
a modern GNOME Desktop along with
development packages installed;
the java-gnome user interface
library >= 4.1.2
the Cairo vector graphics library
>= 1.10, built with PDF and SVG support;
a libre Java runtime (OpenJDK, IcedTea,
the Xom XML library, >= 1.2.1.
The top level configure script will set you straight :)
